Dr. Blanche Freund started with a nursing diploma and later distinguished alumna award from the Mt. Sinai Hospital School of Nursing in NYC. For her Master’s degree in education she studied cognitive restructuring and its effect on female orgasmic potential. And then for her PhD dissertation, at Southern Illinois University, in Educational Psychology, she studied measures of obsessive compulsive behavior symptoms. She has worked as both a nurse practitioner and as a psychologist, combining her knowledge of both areas of health. She has been an AASECT certified Sex Therapist, American Board of Sexology Diplomate, Fellow of the American Academy of Clinical Sexologists, and long-time member and former president of SSTAR, Society for Sex Therapy and Research. She was former certified sex therapist clinical consultant to the Cleveland Clinic, Department of Urology, in Florida. Dr. Freund is a full clinical member of the Association for Advancement of Behavior therapy, past president of the Philadelphia Behavior Therapy Association, certified EMDR therapist and she has facilitated the South Florida EMDR study group. In addition, she is currently on the editorial board for the Journal of EMDR Practice and Research. She continued working as a volunteer Associate Professor in the Department of Psychology at the University of Miami where she supervised the Trauma Treatment Program. Over the years she has published and co-published numerous peer-reviewed journal articles, she has participated in coordinating numerous studies and has often presented her work. She was seeing clients in her office in Delray Beach, Florida until she passed away in 2025.
