RAYMOND J. NOONAN, Ph.D., is a former assistant professor of human sexuality and health education, and former chairperson of the Health and Physical Education Department at the Fashion Institute of Technology of the State University of New York (FIT-SUNY) in Manhattan. The department is now the Film, Media, and Performing Arts Department. Dr. Noonan has written and presented on sexuality in the environment of space, sexuality and the Internet, philosophy and sex, heterophobia and sex negativity in American culture, and sexual expression in musical lyrics. He was coeditor of Does Anyone Still Remember When Sex Was Fun? Positive Sexuality in the Age of AIDS (3rd ed., 1996). He also produces a web site http://www.SexQuest.com, providing educational consulting in human sexuality and educational content for the World Wide Web. He also authored the chapter, “The Psychology of Sex: A Mirror from the Internet,” in Jayne Gackenbach’s book, Psychology and the Internet: Intrapersonal, Interpersonal, and Transpersonal Implications (2nd ed., 2007), released by Elsevier/Academic Press in 2006. He is best known for his work on sexual partner surrogacy, which was the topic of his Master’s research. He continues to teach at the Fashion Institute of Technology in Manhattan.
